In the last few years, social networking sites have gone from strenght to strength. Some of the less popular have stayed that way while others like Facebook, Myspace and Linkedin have grown rapidly. As a business, the power of these Social networking sites has to be one of the biggest growth areas in the global market.
Millions of people a day log into their profiles and join up with friends and associates bringing together something that a few years back would cost your business time and money in business trips, marketing and networking.
Facebook and Myspace have a reputation for being a social networking site for mainly consumers but that is changing. More and more business organisations from all over the world are seeing it as a marketing medium to spread their world by creating groups, promoting events, advertising or even creating applications.
Linkedin is for the B2B Market from all over the world. It was only yesterday you could of dreamed about contacting a Chief Exec of a major organisation half way around the world but thanks to the power of Linkedin, thats what exactly you can do.
Twitter is an amazing tool and well done to the student who originally came up with the idea. Tweets are one line sentences you right to promote a web page, blog, event, article or just something is happening around you. For instance, This blog is written and RSS fed into a number of my profiles on the web. I have added it to twitter as well with a link to share with my followers.
Using the Social Networking sites like these and others, you are creating an online presence which is both effective marketing for your business and more importantly in this time of downturn, cost effective.
