Throughout the UK, there are lots of different groups and organisations offering networking meetings for businesses to attend. We have found that many small traders are not taking an advantage of these and could be missing out on business.
In a survey we are currently carrying out, one question asks if one belongs to any local groups or organisations and a very small amount of those who completed the form have given yes as an answer. We then ask for what reasons do they not join and most give answers like “Can’t afford it”, “Doesn’t work” or simply “Didn’t know we could do it”.
Small businesses need in this current climate to get out and network. Face to Face Marketing is the most powerful way of building and keeping relationships with other businesses. Membership fees should be seen as investments, not costs. Time and effort is everything. The more you put in – the more you will get back in return.
Lastly, You will never know who you will meet or who they know. Networking is the only way of building these bridges and unless you spend a little time each week or month attending a group near you, you will loose out to a local competitor.
