Face to face networking IS the most powerful way to build relationships with new clients while staying in touch with existing ones. As someone that attends a wide range of networking meetings, I was somewhat taken back by the number of people who have not done their homework.
An example of this was one person looked straight down the list of attendees at a recent meeting to see who else was attending. “No one really good for me here then” comment was made at the end. I asked myself how does he know that.
Unless you get to know other business people, you will never know who else they could put you in touch with. I have been a strong believer that unless you put hard work into networking, you are not going to get the maximum out of it. Spend time talking to other attendees and get to know them and their business. I will guarantee that by asking the right questions and listening to what others have to say, you WILL get to meet new potential clients.
